Our client a major automotive manufacturer is seeking to hire on a contract basis a Quality Assurance Consultant to work out of the Fraser Wharves. This position will be reporting to the Manager: Port Operations
Education:
" College/University diploma in automotive technology or related discipline.
" Licensed mechanic is an asset.
" Good oral and written communication skills.
Responsibilities:
" Provide Q.A. presence at Fraser Wharves facility.
" Supervise vehicle process and perform the final inspection.
" Provide product feedback to Q.A. in Toronto.
" Supervise to maintain quality work at Fraser Wharves vehicle inspection PIO installation.
" Plan and arrange processing schedule for our client's vehicles (each vessel) to assist our client and their client's to meet targets.
" Develop and implement programs and procedures for F/W.
" Coordinate and guide vehicle repairs.
" Ensure that our client's quality standards are maintained by F/W operation.
" Interacts on a daily basis with Port Management to review inspection and repair procedures and problem area that require attention.
" Provide Technical information to the client on Q.A.
" Authorizes the shipment of our clients vehicles after approving completion of port inspection and road test.
" Authorizes warranty repair claims.
This is an intermediate level position. The role does not do the actual inspections (this is done by Fraser's Wharves employees) but does the walk through with the other person. The candidate does not need to be a licensed technician but have a strong understanding of mechanics. They also need to be a systems person in order to translate what the inspection results are and translate the information into reports back to head office. Someone who would have some automotive experience would be an asset.
