| Job Title: IBM Partner Specialist |
| Description |
| Essential Functions:
• Responsible for answering presales technical and non-technical questions while educating account
managers on Partner’s products, services and resources to help them become as self-sufficient as
possible.
• Become an expert on all Partner’s products and services.
• Execute sales tactics and engage in sales opportunities with Account Managers and Customers to
develop, architect and position Partner’s products and services.
• Develop and communicate sales tools to assist account managers in providing Partner solutions to their
customers.
• Liaison between Account managers and Partner for special pricing requirements.
• Responsible for reviewing quotes/configurations and orders, creating solution designs, and identifying
potential add-on opportunities.
• Analyzes Partner sales at the client and within the Canadian IT marketplace to find opportunities to drive
more business.
• Engage with and cultivate relationships with Partner’s employees to drive more business.
• Conducts conference calls and customer presentations as necessary.
• Administers and manages various Partner tools to leverage them to drive business.
• Tracks and manages sales forecasts on Partner’s products and services.
• Obtains relevant industry and partner certifications and attends approved outside trainings.
• Works with other departments at the client to ensure sales and logistics processes are streamlined and
optimized to maximize sales.
• Performs other tasks as mutually agreed upon by the client and Partner.
Performance Metrics:
• The Partner Pre-Sales Specialist is measured on Partner sales and on specific criteria including:
number of engaged opportunities, customer interaction, efforts to attach and grow sales, engagement
with the client sales force and other metrics.
Organizational Relationships:
• The Partner Pre-Sales Specialist reports to the Manager of Product Marketing and works closely with
the sales and marketing departments.
Qualifications:
• Knowledge of technology is a must.
• Specific Partner knowledge an asset.
• Existing certifications or formal trainings an asset.
• Familiarity with Specific Partner’s competitive products.
• Prior experience in sales is a must – possessing the drive to close the deal.
• Existing technical ability is preferred.
• Aptitude for learning about technical aspects of products a necessity.
• College or university education preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office - especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and in a constructive manner with management, peers and
