Job Title: Design Launch Program Manager
Description
Our client is currently looking for a Design Launch Program Manager to serve as the program and project interface between customers and the company’s internal groups and to coordinate all activities. This position will require extensive travel to global sites in North America and Asia. Note: This role would ideally suite an individual who has pure design experience as a designer somewhere in their working background, who may have then moved into the program management side – ideally this person will have RF experience Responsibilities: -Provide project definition and metrics, budget development and management, schedule management, task prioritization, contingency planning and project and program reviews -Ensure timely and complete execution of the project plan and contract execution to meet the Customer’s requirements and schedule -Communicate progress and results to senior management and customers using standard practices -Perform design risk assessment and management -Develop plans to meet commitments and schedules for customers and develops action plans to correct out-of-plan conditions -Drives issues/problems to resolution or escalates within function as appropriate -Manages project level P&L and revenue/expense cash flows, and provides regular reporting of Project financials and operational performance -Organizes and facilitates regular team meetings to review project status, identify issues/problems and coordinates design readiness reviews -Plans and approves projects requiring considerable investment of resources -Oversees and signs off on technical content included in proposals and assures that proposals accurately reflect customer requirements for design, costs and performance -Drives design solutions and proto type builds, insures global design teams have adequate product proto-type hardware and code to evaluate the design -Converts the project design into manufacturable configuration for the customer, including development of product naming and structure, including creating part number and design document number schemes comparable to customer product architecture -Manages process checkpoint for acceptable design hand-off and NPI readiness Management of top level schedule milestones and management of inter-dependencies -Insures customer and end customer are provided assets for certfication and acceptance prior to release of full production -Manages Launch risk assessment and mitigation strategies among various groups -Visibility and guidance on overall opportunity profitability – may include management of overall P&L. -10 years plus relevant experience -Backelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience -PMI certification desirable -In-depth knowledge of the product design and design processes, including methods and practices for Design Plan and Work Package generation and control -In-depth knowledge of the manufacturing process, schedules and scheduling requirements -In-depth knowledge of supply chain management processes, particularly around sourcing and tooling strategies for experimental software and hardware components -In-depth knowledge of the business issues associated with design and development (OEM based) and technical services and manufacturing -In-depth knowledge of product pricing, contracts and contract negotiations, and their impact to overall profitability -Thorough understanding of business risks and price make up ( Value add and Materials) -Excellent customer contact, negotiation and problem resolution skills -Good presentation, database management and computer skills -Ability to manage multiple, detailed projects to a successful end while working under tight time deadlines -Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of internal and external customers. Ability to effectively lead and motivate a diverse group of employees to achieve high production within tight time
