| Job Title: SAP BI Project Manager |
| Description |
| The primary responsibility of this position is to bring senior SAP BI full implementation cycle project management skills to several BI projects, and to lead BI initiatives.
The candidate must have prior proven experience as a Project Manager delivering BI solutions from the ground up. As such, the candidate must possess the ability to extract user requirements, work with technical BI experts to determine the best implementation options, create detailed project plans and lead the BI teams through implementation.
-Depending on the candidate’s SAP functional/technical experience, the role may also be that of a team lead, functional/technical consultant or PM.
-As PM, the candidate will not have any direct reports.
-As PM, the candidate will often not have dedicated resources and will need to function in an environment where resources are allocated to multiple projects.
-The PM will typically be required to manage more than one project at a time.
-Some projects will have few resources and narrow scope; others will have many resources and broad scope.
-As PM, the candidate is responsible and accountable to adhere to our project management methodology. This includes maintaining accurate schedules in Microsoft Project (server environment), maintain up-to-date project information (Project SharePoint environment), as well as maintaining resource projections. Accurate planning and controlling of operating and capital project budgets is a must.
-Ability to aggressively monitor and control the work and deliverables of third-party companies. (Review and monitor work performed externally under contract.)
-As PM, the candidate will be required to suggest staffing levels for the project and identify staffing gaps.
-A principal consultant must function well at all levels and must be capable of leading steering committee meetings, consulting with senior executives as well as leading developers and users.
-Provide mentoring and training to junior staff.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-Outstanding leadership, people and organization skills.
-Highly driven and energetic.
-Minimum 8 years solid SAP project management experience with demonstratable, successful closure of at least 3 projects.
-Experienced in establishing and monitoring project plans (schedules and resource plans) and previous accountability to plan and control project budgets.
-SAP certification required (any); BW certification desired. Good overall understanding of SAP technologies in the BI space is highly desirable: BI 7, BIA, BEx, Xcelcius, DashboardBuilder, and Crystal Reports for example.
-PMP certification an asset.
-University degree.
