| Our client is actively seeking a Outbound Network Technician who is interested in working in a PERMANENT position for a client located in Edmonton, Alberta.
Job Details:
We are looking for a Network Technician to work alongside our Senior Network Technician. Applicant must have understanding of Microsoft Server O/S software, Windows XP O/S and Vista O/S, TCP/IP based networking, and internet communication theories. The applicant must be willing to take direction and be able to embrace best practice philosophies. Applicant will be expected to interact directly (in a respectful and considerate manner) with our end users either on the phone (performing technical support remotely) or in person. Appropriate clothing and verbal language is expected. Applicant will have good people skills and be able to assimilate new information well. Applicant will be expected to track and submit their own documentation for services rendered to our clients; mileage tracking sheets and time sheets will be required for submission in a timely manner.
This position requires you to be a jack-of-all-trades. In many cases, we are our customer's IT departments which means you'll working on everything from PCs, laptops, and printers to other network peripherals likes routers, switches, hubs, and servers. You'll act in both a Network Technician and Break-Fix capacity. This includes setting-up and performing service on this type of hardware and the network itself to ensure smooth performance and operability.
While most our customers are commercial, we sometimes do work for the Owners or Executives in their homes as well. This represents less than 5% of your work.
Skills Required
Applicant must have understanding of Microsoft Server O/S software, Windows XP O/S and Vista O/S, TCP/IP based networking, and internet communication theories.
Skills Required:
Have 3 – 5 years of Network Admin/Technician experience
Have strong internetworking and troubleshooting skills
Have MCSE certification
May have other vendor certifications from OEMs (Dell, Toshiba, Lenovo, HP)
Must be a self-starter and have the ability to manage multiple tasks
Can act in a Team Lead capacity
Exceptional customer service skills
Good communication skills
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Ability to complete tasks effectively with minimal supervision
Must be available to work flexible work schedules
Must have a minimum of a Diploma from a recognized IT program
