Intermediate Electrical Engineer - Toronto
Overview:
Based on input from senior staff, prepare design and specifications for commercial and industrial projects. Supervision and guidance from senior engineers and managers will be available. Accountable for working on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
Responsibilities:
" Meet with clients and determine project requirements and scope(s) of work.
" Carry out site surveys to review site conditions and to define and document detailed scope of work.
" Prepare construction cost estimates.
" Carry out feasibility studies and prepare reports.
" Prepare contract drawings and specifications in conjunction with project team.
" Responsible for ensuring that designs meet client needs and all applicable codes and standards.
" Attend meetings and coordinate work with other disciplines and team members.
" Review shop drawings.
" Coordinate construction with the contractors, respond to contractors' queries, provide periodic site reviews and prepare site visit reports.
Qualifications:
" Bachelors degree in electrical engineering + P.Eng.
" 4+ years experience with electrical systems, preferably in the consulting engineering industry. Experience to include building services engineering for industrial and commercial projects, specifically in design and specifications of power, lighting, fire alarm, security, PA/paging, emergency generators, UPS, etc.
" Superior knowledge of the application of standard electrical engineering methods and techniques.
" Experience in a range of electrical building services projects.
" Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
" Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
" Experience in business development and preparing proposals.
" Working knowledge of AutoCAD 2006 with ability to effectively communicate design intent to CAD staff.
" Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) applications.
