Our Vancouver client is seeking to hire a: Project Engineer
DUTIES:
Management and Administration:
* Provide general Geotechnical engineering design and project management services on a variety of projects for various water and sewer facilities (e.g. water mains, river crossings, tunnels, dams, reservoirs and slope), and other related projects.
* Prepare budgets; monitor and track costs.
* Oversee work carried out by consultants and contractors.
Leadership:
* Communicate in a clear and concise manner. Handle difficult and sensitive situations in a timely tactful manner.
* Consistently meet deliverables in a timely fashion.
REQUIREMENTS:
* A Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical specialization) or Geological Engineering, or related discipline, augmented by a minimum of 4 years post registration of relevant experience.
* Membership or eligibility for immediate membership as a registered professional engineer in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC.
* Masters degree in the related disciplines would also be an asset
* Membership or eligibility for immediate membership as a registered professional engineer in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of B.C.
* Experience in Geotechnical design, earthquake engineering, field investigation, Geotechnical instrumentation and construction inspection is required.
* Preference will be given to candidates with strong Geotechnical design experience and a sound background in seismic design relevant to a utility environment, together with a working knowledge of budget preparation and monitoring.
* A good understanding of environmental regulations, issues and related impact mitigation for major construction projects would also be an asset.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills and demonstrated report writing skills. Ability to work within a multidiscipline environment including engineering and operations.
* Proven interpersonal skills; ability to deal tactfully and sensitively to a variety of situations, including contact with the public.
* Working knowledge of personal computers, with demonstrated Microsoft Word and Excel experience.
* Valid BC Drivers License.
