Our client's Vancouver office is seeking to hire an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead a team of engineers and designers in performing all project related tasks. In depth experience in mineral processing plants and equipment is required. Applicants will be expected to:
- Act as Electrical Discipline and Project Leader.
- Lead the Electrical Engineering department including personnel annual career development interviews, identifying strengths and weaknesses within the group and assisting in the development of the department as a whole.
- Participate actively in standardization efforts within the company and communicate regularly with other branch offices.
- Prepare specifications for mineral processing projects
- Review the work of other engineers within the organization.
- Communicate directly with clients.
- Assist in the coordination of electrical design team activities to meet expectations of the project design team and Client representatives
- Lead others in the preparation of design drawings for construction.
- Initiate and execute electrical power systems studies and calculations.
- Prepare detailed specifications and contract documents for procurement of major electrical equipment and construction document packages
- Coordinate project design work duties and prepare schedules of engineering work.
- Coordinate work with other disciplines, other offices and other project team members.
- Visit project sites and other design offices for project related activities, as required.
The successful candidate shall provide detail design assistance to a team of engineers and designers, as necessary to complete engineering projects. The position offered is in the Vancouver office of the Company; however, some travel may be expected.
Requirements for this role include:
- Registration as a Professional Engineer with APEGBC or be immediately eligible for registration.
- Hold a degree in Electrical Engineering. A post-graduate degree would be considered an asset.
- Minimum of 10 years experience in a similar role
- Heavy focus on heavy industrial facilities related to mineral processing/mining, and associated electrical equipment.
- Possess excellent communication skills both written and oral
- Experience in power distribution and substation equipment common to heavy industry, including low-voltage thru 1kV, medium-voltage to 72kV, and high-voltage to 138kV
- Extensive background in an EPC(M) consulting environment
- A proven background in leadership, team building and mentorship of junior staff
