| Job Title: Junior Underwriting Administrative Assistant |
| Description |
| Large downtown insurance company requires a Junior Underwriting Administrative Assistant.
The Underwriting Department has an immediate opening for a Junior Underwriting Administrative Assistant. This is an excellent career opportunity for an energetic, service oriented, team player wanting to get a start in insurance. Reporting to the Team Leader, you will be responsible for providing administrative and broker support to the Underwriting department.
Specific Responsibilities:
" Provide administrative assistance to the Underwriting Department
o writing business letters
o filing
o photocopying
o ordering inspections
o generating reports
o data entry into Family's Point of Sale System
o supporting other projects as required
" Provide broker support for Underwriters including; contacting brokerages regarding cancellation refunds and following up on claims disclosure.
" Act as a back-up for Receptionist
o Receive and direct incoming calls from the main switchboard. Must be capable of handling high volume calls in a busy insurance environment.
o Using the Call Pilot Software, distribute faxes to the appropriate individuals or departments on a daily basis.
o Receive, open and direct all incoming mail from Canada Post, Insurance Service Couriers and other mail providers. Ensure that mail and courier supplies are available and order stock when necessary.
o Sort, stamp all outgoing Company mail and arrange for daily courier service as required.
o Keep a record of all incoming and outgoing cheques.
" Once trained, complete auto underwriting and auto claims reviews as required.

" Professional, friendly and courteous in all interactions, whether with customers or co-workers;
" Performs well in a busy operation and remains calm under pressure. Is a team player adaptable to a changing office environment with excellent organizational skills
" Strong written and verbal English communication skills
Qualifications:
" Experience with MS Office Suite, specifically with Word and Excel
" Minimum 1 year previous receptionist/clerical experience
" Grade 12 and some post secondary education required.
" Experience in an insurance environment an asset
